Compression garments have been around for awhile but it is only in the last couple of years that they have really evolved into an indispensable addition to sports kit, worn as underwear or outerwear, during and after exercise.
HOW DOES COMPRESSION WORK
Compression garments are designed to provide pressure(compression) accross all major muscle groups. Why is it necessary for pressure to be applied to the muscle groups? By applying compression to muscles furthest away from the heart, blood will be sent back to the heart more efficiently. This improved circulation (blood flow) results in more oxygen being delivered to the muscles which enhances performance and recovery. Scientifically designed knits, weaves garments shapes result in graduated compression which is illustrated below:
Higher level of compression is applied at the bottom of the leg.
Improved rate of circulation, delivering more oxygenated blood to the muscles.
Improved performance and faster recovery due to more oxygen.
