UV GEAR
UV Standard 801
Make sure that the protection factor you buy is what you get... be it wet, worn or stretched!!
Welcome to our new MATT range. Because at Second Skins we take your safety very seriously, our UV 801 products have been rated according to the most stringent international UPF test the world has to offer, otherwise known as UV Standard 801.
The diffrence is that UV Standard 801 tests garments wet, stretched and worn so that you know that your garment will offer the same protection after much wear as it does the day you bought it. This goes beyond the requirements of any other standard or test, making it the safest sun protection wear on the market.
Testing is done by the institutes of the International Testing Group for Applied UV Protection, who cooperate on an ongoing basis with relevant, independant organisations in cancer prevention and with the medical profession.
How does this compare with our UPF 50 standard? Our UPF 50 standard is rated according to AUS/NZ 4399-1996 (also known as BS EN 13758-1 2002). This comes with the official stamp of approval of the Cancer Association of South Africa, and until now, was the highest availble in South Africa. However, this standard only takes into account new, conditioned , unstretched material in determining the UPF factor.
** Not all colours have the same UV standard. Please check the UV 801 chart for colour rating **
