You'll find a wide range of technical sports wear under our own Second Skins label available from stockists throughout South Africa. Much time and effort at Second Skins goes into researching state of the art fabrics and design to enhance performance and comfort, no matter what the sport. Where applicable, our products are UPF certified, ensuring that people who wear Second Skins stand the best possible chance of protecting themselves from the ever increasing dangers of sun exposure.
We specialize in Temperature Management fabrics which use a capillary action to lift perspiration from the body to an external surface. Perspiration evaporates resulting in a lowering of body temperature, keeping you dry and focused on your performance.
How our Temperature Management system works:
ELASTOSKINS
UPF 50 ELASTOSKINS is made of 82% nylon and 18% ELASTOSKINS, giving four way stretch for extra comfort. This guarantees a snug fit, great movement and no chafing and we use it for swimwear, sun protection gear, and our stretch basics range. In addition, our fabric carries OEKO-Tex Environmental Certification from the Swiss Textile Testing Institute (Testex), meaning you can be sure that, in addition to being sunlight resistant, it is free from any harmful substances.
CHLOROSKINS
Used for cycle shorts and some of our swimwear products, and exclusive to Second Skins in South Africa, our CHLOROSKINS garments are made of 80% nylon and 20% chloro resist elastane. UPF 50 CHLOROSKINS garments have been developed to give superior resistance to breakdown from exposure to chlorine, sun, salt and perspiration, and provide you with a perfect fit.
ULTRASKINS
Used exclusively for hard wearing swimwear, UPF 50 ULTRASKINS garments are ultra chlorine resistant and ideal for intensive training, particularly in high chlorine environments. ULTRASKINS are carefully crafted from 100% quick drying 40 DTEX polyester and 44 DTEX matt textured PBT
AIRTEX
Used to manufacture cycle and run tops, our UPF 30 AIRTEX garments' anti-chafe design and construction has been athlete and triathlon tested to ensure that you enjoy maximum performance and comfort. AIRTEX garments are made of 100% polyester using anti-snag technology, while high wicking capability draws perspiration away from your body, keeping you dry no matter what the conditions.
